We went camping again this weekend for just one night. We realized that we have done something every weekend since the beginning of June! I am ready for a weekend to relax...although I should be packing.

We accomplished my summer goal today...to hike a 14,000 ft mountain! It was a tiring hike, but totally worth it once you get to the top! We took Howie with us, he made it the whole way. It was funny how many comments we got, "Is he going to make to the top." He seemed to be the talk of the mountain. On our way down, we met up with some people who said they heard about the little dog that hiked all the way to the top from someone. Kinda funny!

We made it! The bag we are holding is from a sub shop by our house. If you take a picture of yourself holding one of their bags at the top of a 14er that you hiked, you get a free sub!

It has been really dry here...and there has been several wildfires.

we could see this one from our balcony...its not far from our apartment, but in the foothills. It started on Sunday and is still going tonight.

this was a couple days ago...it isn't very smoky anymore and they have it mostly contained finally! So far it has burnt 1,700 acres. It has been really dry here...so there have been several other fires also.

It has been almost 2 months since I have been on here...oops! I just never have anything to write about.
What we have been up to since the last time I posted...

Went to the Wings game...honestly don't know which one this was, or if they won or not!

Caught a cool view one morning, the sun was just rising and the ground was pink...pictures don't do justice.

And now I am remembering why I don't post more than one picture on each post...I can't upload more than one picture without saving the draft, going to a different page and then going back to edit the post to add more. Anyone have any suggestions?

Kari & Christina came out to visit...and this is the only picture I took the whole time...hopeless!!

We went back to the Yoop, and Michael and I went skate skiing with my dad...it had been a long time since I've gone! It was so nice to be able to see everyone!!! I have no good pictures of our nieces and nephews...Natalie you should send me some.

We went snowboarding several times and had some good powder...hoping for some more this weekend:)

This is Bailey...we are dogsitting this weekend for a girl I work with. Now I wish we had a dog!! As I am typing this she keep bugging me to play catch with her...and she is really good at making you feel bad!

I finally figured out the picture thing for the last two pictures!

Wow...I haven't been on here in a long time!! We haven't been up to too much, other than work and snowboarding:) We have had some crazy weather lately. On Tuesday it was 70 degrees in Denver and we got a little snow on Wednesday night...amazing how quick the weather changes.
On Monday we went up to Breckenridge, it was a beautiful day, clear blue skies! The view is absolutely amazing from the top of the hill:)

It is so beautiful up there....I could sit up at the top all day...if only it wasn't so windy and cold!

On Sunday we went up to Buena Vista to soak in the hot springs...it felt so good! We were looking forward to the suana that they had...it wasn't really what we are used to, although we weren't too surprised. All the saunas around here are not very hot and they are supposed to be dry saunas:( I would love to be able to take a real sauna!
On our way up to Buena Vista we stopped on side the road to take some pictures. Too bad it was so cloudy!

Right before leaving Buena Vista I realized that I lost my phone...we searched the car and couldn't find it. On our way home we found it on side the road where we stopped to take pictures. I was surprised it was still there, it sat there for 5 hours!!

Monday was opening day at A-Basin...finally!! There was only one run open and a ton of people there, but it felt great to be back on the mountain. The mountains are getting a ton of snow, and the roads weren't too great. The way home was worse...a couple times it was white out conditions and we couldn't see a foot in front of us. There were vehicles in the ditch all over the place and cars that weren't able to make it up the hills. I was definitely glad when we got down to lower elevation and the snow turned to rain.

On Sunday I went to my first NFL game, it was a lot of fun :) Football fans are crazy, it is like an all day party. Before the game they have live music and all kinds of activities outside the stadium.

This was a local band, that was actually pretty good.

This was really cool...four people jumped from a plane and landed in the stadium.

Since moving into our new place I have had several projects floating around it my head that I would love to do. So far I have completed one.

I bought this puzzle awhile ago up in Steamboat, when I saw it I decided I would frame it. It only took a couple of hours to put the puzzle together, but it took me forever to get the glue and the frame. I finally got it framed, and now it is hanging above our fireplace. Now onto my other projects....hopefully soon!

Feels like fall

Just a quick post before I head off to bed...I am trying to post a little more often :)

The past couple of days have been gloomy, cold and raining all day...finally starting to feel like fall. I actually don't mind having a couple of cool, gloomy days after all the sunshine. Reminds me of the yoop! On Friday it was finally cool enough for me to bake bread...yum! I having been wanting some fresh homemade bread for a long time, it has just been too hot!
The mountains have gotten snow the past couple days...makes me really look forward to snowboarding this year!! Bring on the snow :) Haha...never thought I would be looking forward to snow so much!

I'm Back

I had this post all typed up last night, and blogger kept kicking me off.

...finally. I have been told that I need to post more often, I will do my best. We havn't had internet since we moved and finally got it installed on Monday :)
I am really loving our new place, once we get it a little more organized I will post some pictures. Our place is so much bigger and has way more room for storing stuff, so nice to have an extra bedroom! We also have an amazing view from our balcony.

Yesterday we also got our new washer and dryer delivered...I love it! I actually don't mind doing laundry anymore, and it don't have to do it all day! Plus my clothes actually feel clean :)

On Sunday we took a drive up to Breckenridge to see some fall colors...nothing like the UP. I was missing the awesome colors in the UP and was ready to hop on a plane! The only color here is gold.

Last night I made Sweet and spicy jerk ribs. Very good and easy...it is a crockpot recipe. I will be saving this recipe!

Ignore the poor picture quality...bad lighting in our dining room.

2 racks pork baby back ribs (4 1/2 lbs.)

3 Tbsp olive oil

1/3 c. Caribbean Jerk seasoning

3 c. honey BBQ sauce

3 Tbsp apricot preserves

2 Tbsp honey

Cut ribs into serving size pieces; brush with oil and seasoning. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over ribs in crockpot.

Cook on low 6-8 hours or until tender. Skim fat from sauce before serving.

I halved this recipe for Michael and I. I also think this recipe would be really good for pulled pork sandwiches.

Car Shopping

Tonight Michaels car overheated on his way home from work! We think the head gasket blew, so it wouldn't really be worth it to fix it up and keep it, especially when we don't really know too much about fixing cars! Shoot...we have been talking about getting a more reliable vehicle for awhile, but decided to wait and hope that the Tauras lasted a little longer. I guess that didn't happen...now we have to find a vehicle hopefully before the weekend is over. We went to a dealership tonight and test drove a Grand Prix, a nice car, but with high miles and a little too expensive. We found a Grand Prix on craigslist that Michael is going to check out tomorrow, cross your fingers it works out!

Everything comes at once...One weekend we are shopping for apartments and packing up to move, and the next weekend we are shopping for a new car. I think I am ready for a weekend that involves no shopping of any kind!!

This past weekend was our 1 yr. anniversary...crazy how time flies!! We had originally planned on going to Moab, Utah...but instead stuck around here since we are moving in two weeks and have a lot of packing to do! On Sunday we hiked up St. Mary's Glacier, a short but tiring hike. The view from the top was beautiful!

People would carry up their skis and snowboards to ski down...doesn't seem worth it to me!

We are moving in about a week and a half and I have a lot of packing to do! I am excited about moving... we will have a bigger place, right next to the foothills with an amazing view! It is just the packing and unpacking that I am not too excited about.

We also bought our ski passes this past weekend...Can't wait for winter:)

Wow...once again its been a long time since I have updated this thing...oops! Since I have last updated this, we have done quite a bit.
Bob, Carol and Leah came to town...I had to work the whole time except for the weekend. We stayed in Steamboat Springs for a couple of nights and had a lot of fun!

We took the gondola up the ski hill...it was pretty windy!

This past Sunday we went up to Aspen with Stephanie and Joel. We couldn't have picked a better day, it was sunny and warm. We even stopped to swim on our way!

On our way up, we stopped at the lake we took our Christmas picture at. It looks a lot different in the summer when there is green grass and flowers out.

We also stopped in Twin Lakes to cook lunch and swim. It was a little cold, but very refreshing! It reminded me of Lake Superior because the water was so cold and clear.

None of my pictures turned out very good at the Bells because it was humid and the sun was starting to go behind the mountain.

We decided to hike up to the second lake. It was a harder hike than we expected!

Halfway up...we started down at the lake.

Whew!...we finally made it to Crater Lake. You can see Michael laying down in the corner...we were a little tired:)

On our way back down...this reminded me of the U.P. We don't see trails like this too often!

The trip up to Aspen makes for a long day, but well worth it. I was definetly glad that I didn't have to work the next day, I was pretty exhausted!

Camping

Its been awhile since I have posted anything. I meant to post about our camping trip to Wyoming a long time ago, but never got around to it. It felt so good to get out of the city for awhile. The stars were super bright, and you don't hear any cars. There is pretty much no one around up in Wyoming...completely different than Colorado. One night on our way up to our camping sight we almost hit a mountain lion. Yikes! I knew those things were big but didn't realize they were that big...it was huge. I wish I could've got a picture, but he disappeared pretty fast. The rest of the night I was a little paranoid, I almost slept in the Jeep, but decided I didn't want so sleep alone :)
The guys did a lot of fishing while I sat and read a book. There was still a lot of snow high up in the mountains...and it wasn't very warm!

Mom, these ones are for you! I tried taking many pictures of the flowers, but most of them were blurry...not sure why?!

I am so glad we were able to get up there to camp...hopefully we will have time for one more trip up there before summer is over. Before we go camping again, I am definetely going to get a new sleeping bag. I woke up both mornings with numb feet and had to start a fire to warm up!

4th of July

Saturday night we went to another Rockies game...this time I actually watched the whole thing:) After the game they had fireworks. They put on a pretty good show!

Sunday night it was cold and rainy so we decided to just drive around and see fireworks. Since it is so flat out here, we could see fireworks all over the city!

We had thought several times today that it wouldv'e been nice to go up to the Harbor...we are just a little too far away for that!

I hope everyone had a fun 4th of July!

9 months...

Without a sauna...man is that a long time! But we were finally able to take one last night. Drove 3 hours round trip just for it, but it was well worth it:) Makes me look forward even more to sauna and swim. Can't wait!!

It has been 9 months since we moved out here...Crazy!! Time flew by and we are having so much fun. When we first decided to move out here, I was thinking 1 year would be plenty long enough. I'm not quite ready to leave yet, and I am definetly looking forward to Stephanie moving out here:) Anyone else want to move out?

Rockies

Wow, I've been slacking on this blogging thing lately!

Friday night we went to a Rockies game, it was a beautiful night for a baseball game. It was pretty hot, but there was a nice breeze. I have to admit...I think I only caught about 1/3 of the game, instead I was people watching, and watching the sunset over the mountains.

40 days until we are back in the good 'ole Yoop! Looking forward to it!

Memorial Day Weekend

Our trip down to the Great Sand Dunes was a ton of fun!

Saturday after Michael was done with work, we took off down to Pueblo and stayed the night there. Sunday morning we woke up early and hit the road. The terrain down south is totally different than what we are used to up here. Its all scrub brush and desert looking grass.

As we got closer to the Sand Dunes, you could start to see them in the distance. They looked really small against the mountains from so far away.

We had beautiful clear blue skies, with just a couple clouds.

Almost to the top...it seemed that everytime we got to what we thought was the top, we would have to go further.

The view was well worth the 2-ish mile hike uphill, in sand to the top. It was definetly a work out and a lot of breaks were needed! I realized halfway up that it wasn't too smart of us to wear flip flops because the sand got pretty hot!

Our hike back down was much easier and a lot quicker! At the bottom we were able to cool off our feet in the river formed by runoff from the mountains...it felt really good, but boy was it cold!

From the Sand Dunes we headed up a gravel road a little ways into the mountains to check out Zapata Falls. I think the water here was even colder than Lake Superior, and very clear.

We then decided to head further West about 2 hours to Pagosa Springs. Michael had been wanted to go there since we moved out...we finally made it.

That night we went soak in the hot springs, it was pretty smelly...but it felt really good. This place was pretty neat...they had many different springs at all different temperatures. The hottest one was 112*, I put my toe in but that was as far as I got :) The hottest one I was able to get into was 108*, and I have to say...it definetly made my sunburn sting!

We got to talking to a couple at the springs and they recommended that we take the long way home and go further West through Durango, if we didn't mind spending a few extra hours in the car.

We decided to head home the long way, Monday morning we woke up and hit the road again. The drive was very scenic and took us on the Million Dollar Highway. Michael said he saw something on TV one day that it is also one of the most dangerous roads in the US. I can see why! It was very curvy, narrow and right along the edge, sometimes with no guard rails.

There was a lot of beautiful scenery along the way, and I took a lot of pictures.

Once we got past Ouray (sp?), a cute little town nestled between the mountains, we saw an amazing view of the mnts in our rear view mirror. We found a road to pull off on so I could stop and take some pictures. I had to take a couple pictures to crop together to get the whole range. I could've sat there and stared for hours, but we decided we better get back on the road so we could get home at a decent time.

I could post a ton more pictures...but this is enough for one post I think. Overall that weekend I took 450 pictures...not to just sort through them all!

Today after Michael gets done with work, we are heading down to the Great Sand Dunes. We have reservations for a hotel tonight but nothing for Sunday. We hope to camp on Sunday, but I have a feeling it is going to be pretty busy down there. I guess we are just going to wing it...and hope we find somewhere to stay! Well, I should get off the couch and pack so we can leave as soon as Michael gets home from work! Have a great holiday weekend!

A cool waterfall on side of the freeway in the mountains...Some day I will actually stop and get a better picture, since I took this just driving by. It bugs me that you can see the fence at the bottom.

We took a cruise up into the mountains today hoping to make it up to Guanella pass. We didn't make it up there because we was snowing pretty good once we got past Idaho Springs...O well, some other time I guess.

Crazy Weather and other Randomness

Boy, are we getting some crazy weather lately! Yesterday we had a beautiful 80 degree day...this morning I woke up to snow!! And I thought the Yoop had crazy weather. The nice thing...when it snows around here it never sticks around for long, and usually warms up a day or two later.
I have been seeing signs for garage sales lately and wish I had someone to go with. Michael works every Saturday, and I really don't want to go by myself. I don't really need anything, and have no room for extra stuff in our apartment, but I would like to find some golf clubs. I think it would be fun to try golf again.
I am waiting for some warm weather so that I can repaint by coffee table. I was hoping to do it this weekend, but it sounds like we are supposed to keep getting rain :( One of these days I will get around to it.
Anywhoo...not much else is happening around here, work and watching hockey EVERY night!

Aquarium, Jam and Hockey

I have been meaning to post something on here for awhile...just now getting around to it.
This past Saturday I decided to try making jam. For some reason I always thought it was hard and time consuming. It is actually pretty easy to make....and it turned out really good!

I had some left over strawberries, so I made some baking powder biscuits and we had strawberry shortcake...Yum!

Last night we went to the Avs vs. Sharks playoff game. Dwight Helminen was able to get us tickets, so we got to see him play! It was a lot of fun...The atmosphere is totally different for playoff games...I even got into it! He also got us access passes, so we could go talk to him after the game down by the locker rooms. We weren't able to talk to him very long though...they were headed straight to the airport after the game.

Tonight when I got home from work I was able to convince Michael to come for a walk with me. It was such a nice evening...warm, with a little bit of a breeze so it wasn't too hot. We found this nice walking trail that I never knew about. It winds along a little stream, and there is some huge houses to look at...I love looking at houses! It also goes by a couple of nice parks. It's a little better than walking around our lake a couple of times. I told Michael I should start running that trail. Haha...we will see if that ever happens!

Visitors

I have really been slacking on updating this thing lately...sorry. I never seem to have anything to write about...I guess pictures will just have to do!

Our week with my Mom, Dad, Anneli and Natalie was a lot of fun. On Tuesday we took a drive up to Estes Park and did a little bit of hiking. Me, Anneli and Natalie weren't exactly prepared for hiking, we were all in sandals, tromping through mud and snow.

On Wednesday we went skiing at Breckenridge, it was a beautiful, warm sunny day. The snow wasn't very good, but we still had a lot of fun.

After our visitors left Sunday morning, we went skiing at A-Basin. They had 7 inches of fresh powder! It was the first time I have snowboarded in powder...and boy is it hard! It definetly tired me out quickly, but we had a lot of fun! In the afternoon the sun came out and it was so pretty with all the trees covered in snow. Unfortunatly my camera died, so I didn't get any pictures.

We took a cruise up into the mountains one day and saw this cabin in middle of the field.

Janina left last night, I am surprised that she was actaully able to get out. We got a big storm last night, the roads were the worst I have driven in a long time. Crazy that on Monday it was 75 degrees! Now today it has warmed up and all the snow is melting!

Today Michael and I decided to try out Keystone. It was a beautiful, warm sunny day. The snow wasn't the best but it was still fun. I couldn't believe how many people were out there on a Monday, I think a lot of people are fair weather friends! I don't think the view from the top of the mountain will ever get old! Pictures just don't do it justice.

I have been wanting to make my own background, but never knew how. I found directions on-line and decided to give it a try. It took me a lot longer than I thought it would. I would like to figure out a way to blend the pictures together a little more, but don't have the right photo editing programs to do it. In highschool I remember using Photoshop and really like it, but...it is a little too expensive to buy:( Anyone no of anything free online to use?

We had such a fun weekend with Kari, Aimee and Madeline. I'm definetly not used to staying up late. I was so exhausted from such a fun weekend, I came home from work yesterday and slept 'till 10! I think I am finally caught up on my sleep.

At Texas Roadhouse, Kari & Aimee got free ribs for it being their first time. I wonder why no one ever asked us that before?

It was such a beautiful day at A-Basin, we all got beautiful goggle tan lines! I gues mine must have been pretty noticeable because all day at work on Monday I got comments about my burnt face.

We never knew about this place before! We had been to the top before, but didn't realize that you had to go back down the other side of the mountain to see anything.

Saturday we went to a Mammoth (lacrosse) game. Before moving out here I never knew there was a pro lacrosse league. I really wasn't too interested in going but Michael and Barry both wanted to, so on Saturday we went to a game. It was much more fun that I thought it would be. It seems to be more focused on entertaining the crowd than the actual game...so much different than hockey. Cheaper than hockey too, you can get $5 tickets :) There was music playing and the announcer were talking the whole time the game was going on. I know absolutly nothing about the sport, but it was really fun!

For the introductions they had pyrotechnics and Harleys on the field...it was interesting! I was surprised how many people were actually there. I guess it is a really big sport out here and all the high schools have teams. It was Wild West Night on Saturday, so there was all kinds of people dressed up in western gear, it made it interesting for people watching...my favorite thing to do! At half time they had little kids riding sheep, like a mini rodeo...hilarious!

On Monday night we went to the Red Wings game. Of course the only time I forget my camera is then :( I took a couple of pics with my phone, but they don't turn out near as good. The game was super fun, and I actually was getting all into it. (And I'm not even a big hockey fan.) We have been told that when the Wings are in town, you can't even tell which team is the home team. I couldn't believe how many wings fans there were at the game. It makes it even more fun when you aren't the only one cheering for your team!

I am looking foward to Kari, Madeline and Aimee coming to town on Thursday!!!

Cheesy Broccoli Soup

I have been wanting to try cheesy broccoli soup for a long time. It was super easy and SO good! I actually used a package mix for cream of broccoli soup and added fresh broccoli and cheese, among other extras. I think next time I am actually going to make up my own recipe...it shouldn't be too hard! Super quick and easy supper :) Just what I need when michael works late.

Day off

I had a list of things I wanted to make today...no surprise, I didn't get it all done. I have tomorrow off too but we are going skiing/snowboarding :) My list:

white chocolate chip raspberry muffins

Between laundry, a run to the grocery store and cleaning I didn't get it all done. I have my muffins in the oven now, and do they ever smell good! (thanks for the recipe Katie!) I also have my roast cooking and several loads of laundry done. I am hoping to get my bread done later tonight. I guess I better run...my dryer stopped and my timer for the muffins is beeping!

Fun Weekend!

I have been slacking at writing any posts lately...I guess I have nothing to say!

We had such a fun weekend with Katie and Kurt in town!! We were sad to see them leave :(
Saturday we went to the Avs game...we got a good deal on tickets and even got free food! The past couple games we have gone to, I was just about drooling over the nachos...I finally got to try them, and were they ever good! On Sunday we went skiing/snowboarding and stayed up in the mountains at a cute Bed and Breakfast, I have always wanted to stay at one. Now I finally have :)

On Monday Michael and Kurt went skiing and me and Katie went snowshoeing and shopping, it was such a fun day. Funny story: while we were snowshoeing we saw these humongous (sp?) tracks in the snow, they were as big as my boot! Anywho...we decided to turn around and head back to the car because we had no idea what kind of animal would make such big tracks.

Anyway...after the guys looked at our pictures of the tracks, they told us they were from a Snowshoe Hare. And we thought we were nervous for a reason!!! Haha! O'well, we still had fun, and even just doing a little bit, you get so short of breath so quick because of the high altitude.

On Tuesday we went visit my Great Uncle Harold and went to Red Rocks Ampitheatre...this time I made sure to bring my camera! The sun was already going down by the time we got there, so the pictures didn't turn out all that great.

On Tuesday night we enjoyed the hot tub at our apartment...I can't believe we never used it before. It felt so good :) Now I think me and Michael are going to use it almost every night!!

I miss this little cutie pie already!

This was at the hockey game. I think he was kinda wondering what all the flashing lights were about!

We went up into the mountains on Saturday...it was beautiful. I ended up buying myself some snowboard boots on Friday, so I was able to take a couple runs down the hill on Saturday!

On Sunday we went up to Red Rocks Ampitheater with my Uncle...We didn't think to bring our cameras, so I had to use my phone.

The theatre is below us...I've heard that concerts are amazing here. It is an outdoor theater and is built into the rocks. Sorry for the fuzzy pics!

High Altitude

My finished product. It's a little too short to tie it like I usually do, but it will definetly keep me warm snowboarding!

I made banana bread today. It flopped :( This is the second time I have made it since moving out here...it must have something to do with the high altitude. It still tastes good, but it definetly doesn't look very nice. I was planning on bringing it to church tomorrow. I ended up making apple pie instead, its actually still in the oven and won't be done until 12:30. It looks and smells REALLY good!

I finished my scarf a couple of days ago:) I actually ended up starting completly over about half way through to make it narrower. Now that I am done, I am kinda thinking I should've made it even narrower! It will be a really warm scarf for me to wear snowboarding. I found another scarf online that I really want to make, it is so cute!

This weekend is the start of 3 weekends off in a row from work!

In 1 week we are getting company, I am sooo excited. Christy & Art are coming out here and taking their cute, little Ethan with! I think I am going to hold him all weekend:)

Yesterday was absolutely beautiful! I went for a walk and was really wishing I had taken my camera with me. The mountains were so clear, the sun was shining and it was 60 degrees! I could really get used to this weather in January! I even went grocery shopping by myself and didn't mind taking several trips up the stairs to haul it all up!

A couple nights ago I made Tostada Pizza for supper, it reminded me of Ambassador, Yum! Next time I think I want to try with a thin and crispy crust. Anyone have a good recipe?

I have the next two days off of work, I am hoping to actually get something done. Here is my list, we will see how much I actually accomplish!

New project

Last night I decided I was going to try knitting. I decided to start with a scarf. I went out and picked up some needles and yarn and went online and found some directions.

It took me several tries to get the first row on the needle. After the first row was on, it was pretty easy.

I noticed after several rows, that I had one extra stitch...o' well. It isn't noticeable so I'm not going to worry about it! I also don't know how to get rid of it! This is how far I've gotten:

Back into the swing of things

I have been struggling to get back into the swing of things: this blog and getting back to a normal work schedule (if you can say that) ever since Christmas week! I don't know if I will ever get used to my work schedule, blogging...we will see what happens!

I have this wknd off and me and michael were planning on going to A-Basin on Sunday...Michael found out he has a meeting at work on Sunday :( So much for that plan! I guess I should look on the bright side, I am still hurting from the tumble I took snowboarding over a week ago, it probably wouldn't be such a great idea to go again. I have been thinking I should go to a chiropractor but I hate trying to find someone to go to...it scares me a little! I have been asking around at work the past couple of days for reccomendations but everyone I ask avoids chiropractors. Finally someone today suggested one...now to just call their and make an appt. I am rather good at procrastinating these types of things. I really should call...it hurts to bend over and pick up a gallon of milk off of the floor!

Aimee: here is the picture I promised of my Andes mint cookies! I still have some left, and I seem to be the only one eating them...I just can't help it, so good!

I can now finally build puzzles! Michaels parents got me a puzzle board for Christmas. It takes up a lot of room in our little apartment but it fits perfectly under our couch when I'm not using it!

Happy 2010!

Michael's parents left this morning...feels kinda weird to have a quiet house again! We definetly enjoyed our time with them...it was so much fun! They got out here Christmas Eve, it was nice to have them here for Christmas...even though I had to work Christmas day. We did a lot of shopping and visiting. On Saturday we went to an Avalanche game, Sunday we took a drive up into the mountains and on Tuesday we went skiing/snowboarding at A-Basin. I wish I would've taken more pictures while they were out here...too late now, O'well! We took a group picture but I forgot to get it from C before they left!

At the Avs game, there was only 2 rows above us! It was surprising how good you could still see. You can't really tell from the pic...the players look like ants!

We both had the day off today and were originally planning on going up to Breckenridge. We woke up this morning and decided it would feel good to sit around and relax for the first time in a couple of days. I am also still sore from Tuesday, I wiped out pretty good and gave myself whiplash!

Every time I wear this necklace to work, I get a million compliments. Thanks Janina! Yesterday I was walking up to once of the nurses stations at work and one of the nurses was just staring at me....kinda weird! Once I got closer she tells me..."I looove your necklace." Haha! Anyways...its my day off and I have a lot to do, I should get busy!

Happy (belated) birthday to Brayden on Thursday...he is two already!
Happy birthday to Lily today...She is getting so old...7 already. I called Lily on my way to work this morning to tell her happy birthday...she told me she saw my tiny Christmas tree on the computer and theirs is "WAY bigger!" haha, so cute. I miss all my nieces and nephew! Wish I could've been at the party!

I finally made some kiss cookies last night. Yum! I made them a little big so the kisses look a little small. They still taste great though! I also made them with mini Reeses, so good! Next on my list...andes mint cookies.

This is the first time I have used one of my aprons...I have 3 and always forget about them. I love this one...from my nieces and nephews...so cute!

Snowboarding

Snowboarding was so much fun...I have to admit, I started to get a little frustrated as I can't turn very good. I think Michael and Barry got a little bored because I only went down the easiest hills. O'well, they got to go Monday and Tuesday too! I was hoping to take some pictures, but decided that I will wait until I am a little better at it so I won't break it. Also it was snowing like crazy and you really couldn't see much of the view which Michael keeps telling me is great! Towards the end of the day we couldn't even see the top of the mountain on our way up the chairlift. I was so focused on trying to get down the hill without falling that I probably wouldn't been able to look at the scenery anyway.

I still think that the worst part of snowboarding is getting off the chairlift. I took several diggers, at least the workers got a little bit of entertainment. Its so hard for me to keep my balance with only one foot strapped onto the board. I was glad to notice that I wasn't the only beginner tho! There were several other people who looked like me, struggling to get down the hill. I was expecting to wake up this morning with big colorful bruises on my butt and hips. I think I was on my butt more than standing. I haven't noticed any bruising yet but I definetly feel bruised. It's amazing how much more your muscles have to work. I don't think I can make even one movement without hurting! The sad thing...I only snowboarded for 4 hours.

Hopefully the next time we go (which I hope is soon), I will be able to figure out how to get down the hill without landing on my butt so much! I also have to find some boots that don't kill my feet next time we go. My darn high arch is rather annoying, within 10 minutes of getting my boots on, my foot was already numb. I was told to try a different brand so I am crossing my fingers that I can find something that works for me.

On another note...I still haven't gotten around to making any Christmas cookies :( My candy canes are still attempting to satisfy my sweet tooth (and some kisses I was planning on using for cookies). My one day off this week I went skiing and by the time I get home from work I don't really feel like baking. My goal is to get them done before Christmas Day when Michaels parents come out here. I also have a huge stack of laundry to do...and I have to work this weekend so I doubt I will get too much done.

One nice thing about having to work this weekend...I get out of going to Michaels work party on Sunday. I really wasn't looking forward to it!

Random thoughts

So most of our snow has melted in the past couple of days...it has been about 55 degrees. I could get used to winters like this!

On saturday when Michael was leaving for work he found my set of keys in the door lock! oops! I guess it was kinda pointless to lock our doors Friday night. It's a good thing we live on the 3rd floor and there is only 3 other apartments in our building on the 3rd floor!

I am slowly starting to get our christmas pictures done...Next on my list is to start my christmas cookies! I have slowly been emptying our freezer so I have room to freeze them and I went and bought kisses, reeses and andes so I can make them! This year I am going to try making kiss cookies with mini reeses too! Yum! Hopefully I will get some done this week and that I will have enough room in my freezer!

Last night I bought a season pass to A-basin! I guess now I have to go snowboarding. When we first got out here I didn't really care how much I actually got out to go snowboarding. Now that the season is here I can't wait. Barry is out here so Michael has went skiing yesterday and today and probably tomorrow...I have to say I am rather jealous! I have Thursday off so we are planning on going! Can't wait, I also have a snowboard to use for a couple of times just so I can make sure I really do want to snowboard! Now I just have to rent boots. The whole hill isn't open yet as there isn't enough snow, but thats perfect for met...now Michael can't ditch me to go on the black diamond runs. I'm a little nervous since I havn't snowboarded in so long, the worst part is getting on and off the chairlift. Wish me luck...I'll need it! I kinda want to take my camera with me on the hill but I am a little worried I will end up wrecking it. I am wishing now I would've take my old camera out here with me.

Tomorrow we have a Christmas party at work and I have to bring a main dish. I have been trying to figure out something to bring all day. Something rather easy that I can put together tonight and cook it at work tomorrow...I even had my patients brainstorming for me! I finally decided to make scalloped potatoes. Michaels not too happy...he always want me to cook them but I don't really like them so I keep putting it off!

So today I had to work until 7 because of a meeting...makes for a long day. One nice thing about working so late is that no one is on the roads. The fastest drive home from work ever I think! I had brought a can of Diet Coke to work with me so I could have it on my way home, I put it in the fridge in the breakroom. At lunch time it was still there...after work it was gone:( I took a quick glance at all the nurses on my way out the door and didn't notice anyone drinking it. Let's just say I was a little disappointed that I didn't have my Diet Coke for my ride home!
All this cold weather and snow we are having right now makes me miss the good 'ol yoop! Today on my way to work it was -10! At least the snow quit and it was sunny out today. Now we just need that sun to warm it up to about 50 degrees, man that would be nice! I probably shouldn't count on it tho.

...although it will probably all melt by the time christmas rolls around! We woke up to snow this morning, and it has been snowing all day with no signs of stopping! It is pretty, but I really do hate driving in it! It is so much worse in the city. Even though the roads aren't any worse than I am used to, there is so much more traffic. By the end of my drive today my neck, back and shoulders were so sore.. and I'll bet if you asked Michael he would tell you I was pretty crabby!
Speaking of Christmas, we decided to not be total scrooges this year, since I left all my Christmas decorations back home we went out and bought a little 4 foot Christmas tree this week. I am kinda wishing now that I would've brought all my decorations! O well.

Parade of Lights

Tonight I convinced Michael to go to the parade of lights downtown, I was getting kinda sick of sitting in the house all night every night:) I was hoping to get some pictures, but after sitting around waiting for it to start my hands were so cold I didn't really feel like digging my camera out. I managed to get a picture of Union Station as we were leaving.

This is the best I could do. It's so hard to take night pictures, one tiny shake and it turns out blurry! O well. I have to say, the best part of the parade was people watching, there is all kinds of interesting people in the city!

I finally broke down and started one. Don't count on anything spectacular as I am not much of a writer! Just another way to keep in touch with family as we no longer live close to anyone.

On to another subject...we finally have a couch! It was delivered today, the only problem...it seems to take up half of our living room! It's definetly nice to finally have something comfortable to sit on though. No more sitting on the floor! Our apartment is finally starting to look like we live here. Now to just get our shelves and mirror up. Hopefully that gets done tomorrow, Michael and I both have the day off!
